What Is A Working File?

We understand that sending artwork for printing can feel confusing.

You may have heard terms like “vector file” or “working file” and not be sure what they mean. This page explains it simply so you know what to send and what works best for printing.

What Is a Working File?

A working file is a file that can be edited, resized, and adjusted without losing quality.

This allows us to resize your logo without it becoming blurry, adjust colours for accurate printing, and position your design correctly on garments or signage. It helps ensure the final result looks clean and professional.

In simple terms, it is the best type of file for printing.

Best File Types

The best working files are vector files.

These include AI, EPS, PDF in vector format, and SVG files.

These file types can be resized to any size without losing quality, which makes them ideal for printing on workwear, signage, and display materials.

What If I Don’t Have a Working File?

That is completely fine. Most people do not.

You may only have a JPG, PNG, or a screenshot of your logo. These are called raster files and they can lose quality when resized, which can result in blurry prints.

If that is the case, we can usually help convert your file into a print-ready format so it looks sharp and professional.

Why This Matters

Using the right file helps ensure your print looks its best.

It results in sharper prints, better colour accuracy, and no pixelation. It also speeds up the process because there is less back and forth.

Not Sure What You Have?

If you are unsure what type of file you have, just send it through.

We will check your file, let you know if it is suitable, and help prepare it properly if needed.
